Hunger Connection presents annual luncheon

• More than 800 local business and political representatives to participate March 18

Rockford Mayor Doug Scott and the Hunger Connection Food Bank present the 18th Annual Mayor’s Hunger Luncheon on Thursday, March 18, at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Keynote speaker is Bob Love, community relations director for the Chicago Bulls. Love is a former player for the Chicago Bulls and brings with him an inspiring message of hope.

The Mayor’s Luncheon has become a tradition in Rockford, with more than 800 local business leaders and political representatives attending. Each year a simple meal of soup, bread, water, coffee and a cookie is served and attendees have the opportunity to learn more about how the Hunger Connection Food Bank works to fight hunger in our community.

Rockford College Music Academy students will perform, with Julian Deluna at the piano and Jackie Tenard singing the National Anthem. Winners of the Distinguished Individual Award and Distinguished Advocate Award will be recognized during the lunch.

Mary Stoker Smith of WTVO-17-TV will be emcee. Tickets ($25) are available through the Centre Events box office at 968-5222.
