The Rockford IceHogs will begin the month of December with four straight road games.
This Friday (Dec. 1) they travel to Michigan to take on the Flint Generals. Saturday (Dec. 2) they move on to Indiana, looking for a little revenge against the Fort Wayne Komets. Starting time for both Friday and Saturdays contests is 6:30 p.m.
The Hogs lost at home Saturday night, Nov. 25, in a 4-3 shootout against the Komets. Winger Jessie Benefield scored the game-tying goal for the Hogs at the 12:23 mark of the final period. Neither team was able to get another puck into the net during regulation. In the shootout period, J.C. Ruid scored the only goal as he slid the puck past Hogs goalie Brenden Cuthbert.
The following week, the Hogs will be back in Illinois Wednesday, Dec. 6 to take on the Prairie Thunder in Bloomington. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Then, its back to Michigan to close out the road trip with a game against Port Huron for a 6 p.m. Friday night game Dec. 8.
The Hogs wont return to the MetroCentre until Saturday night, Dec. 9, for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Chicago Hounds. This will be the third meeting between the Hounds and the Hogs.
The first 1,000 fans to welcome the boys back home will receive an IceHogs hockey puck, courtesy of Bryden Motors. The game is also the Hogs Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to the game. After the Hogs first goal, fans can toss the stuffed animals onto the ice. They will then be collected and distributed to local hospitals and the Mountain of Toys for Christmas.
All away and home games can be heard on WNTA 1330 AM.
