The Rockford IceHogs will hold a press conference at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 7) to announce their head coach and director of hockey operations for the 2006-07 season.

Steve Martinson has been head coach the past two seasons. He is credited with leading the team to its two best seasons in club history. Both of those two years, the team made the United Hockey League’s Colonial Cup Playoffs.

Speculation has it Martinson will not return next year. No one associated with the ’Hogs would go on record to confirm or deny that rumor.

Due to his success as a head coach, Martinson is expected to move up in the ranks of the coaching world. Martinson did not respond to messages for comment left on his cell phone.
