Illinois Growth Enterprises diverts scrap materials from landfills

More than 94 percent of the total materials that are designated for disposal are recovered through Illinois Growth Enterprises’ stringent recycling policy. Many of these materials may have otherwise been destined for the local landfills.

As a certified agent for the disposal of all Canon U.S.A., Inc.’s obsolete consumer products, IGE has recycled more than 2 million pounds of materials since June 2005. IGE’s relationship with Canon helps both companies to realize their mutual goals of protecting the environment through a responsible recycling program. IGE’s process, under the watchful eye of Canon, maximizes the recovery of scrap materials through recycling and minimizes the use of landfills.

IGE is registered ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management and was selected by Canon to manage its consumer products’ recycling program in March 2005.

Illinois Growth Enterprises operates a 175,000-sq. ft. production facility at 7200 Clinton Rd. in Loves Park. This program started more than 36 years ago to provide job training and job placement for people with disabilities. Today, more than 366 individuals have meaningful work through IGE programs.

To people with disabilities, IGE offers: training, extended employment and employment services. To businesses, it offers: top-quality contract services such as packaging/assembly and electronics recycling performed in the production facility. Employment services are offered to area employers in search of dedicated employees and award-winning janitorial services to area businesses.
