Italian wedding traditions featured at Ethnic Heritage Museum through Sept. 6

Visit the Ethnic Heritage Museum this summer and see the many displays of wedding gowns through the centuries in “Wedding Traditions: Old World and New World Styles.” The Italian Gallery has a display of “Summer Weddings.” See beautifully handmade gowns from the 1900s as well as linens hand sewn by Jennie Michelon’s mother, Amabile Faccin Michelon. Some other “Hope Chest” items include linens from Duane A. Nichols’ mother, Emma Chiodini, who was married on July 4, 1936. Also on display is a collection of Bombonieri—from fragile glass boxes to the “confetti” disguised as wheat and others that appear as flowers.

The exhibit will run through Sept. 6. The Ethnic Heritage Museum, 1129 S. Main St., is open Sundays from 2-4 p.m. Admission is $2. For more information, call 962-7402.
