Jackson School builds new playground

Jackson School builds new playground

Jackson Elementary School plans to build a new playground which will be accessible to all children including those with special needs. This playground will be every child’s dream and will include slides, climbing and jumping opportunities and bridges. The playground will be wheelchair accessible with ramps, handles and large turnaround areas. Children in the community who have mobility issues will also be able to interact more with their friends.

The school’s current playground is 20 years old and has served the Jackson School community well. Weathering and daily use by hundreds of school and community children has caused it to deteriorate, and it must be replaced. The present playground is inaccessible to children who cannot walk.

The goal is to raise funds so that the new playground can be built in May of 2004. Jackson School, in conjunction with Carlson Elementary School, will sponsor a walk/run/roll on Saturday, Oct. 12. The goal is to raise funds from this event. They have secured some community sponsors but need more.

There are many different ways to help. Your gift can make a real difference in the lives of many children at the school and the community.

The following levels of sponsorship will receive an advertisement on the walk/run shirts, have their names engraved on a plaque near the entrance of the playground, and will have their names read at the playground dedication ceremony.

l $500 or more

l $250-$500

l $100-$250

Sponsoring the playground effort through participation in the Walk/Run/Roll event and the provision of prizes, etc. will also be recognized. Registration will be held at the YMCA Log Lodge, and all pre-registered participants are guaranteed an official T-shirt with a minimum pledge of $5.
