Jan. 21 last day for cookie fans to order Girl Scout Cookies

More than 2,500 area Girl Scouts offer cookies, including new Reduced-Fat Cartwheels and Thanks-A-Lot cookies

Girl Scouts in the Rock River Valley are starting the new year with their favorite activity—selling Girl Scout Cookies.

The excitement began with local Girl Scout Cookie Kick-offs Friday, Jan. 6, when more than 2,500 Girl Scouts from Boone, Winnebago and Ogle counties were to attend Cookie Kick-offs and participate in exciting cookie-related activities.

Girl Scout Cookies this year include the new Reduced-Fat Cartwheels, a tasty cinnamon and oatmeal treat, and the new Thanks-A-Lot, a fudge-backed cookie with the words “thank you” in English, French, Chinese, Swahili or Spanish embossed on the top. Favorite Girl Scout Cookies will also be on sale, including the refreshing Thin Mints, decadent Carmel deLites, buttery Shortbreads, Peanut Butter Patties, tangy Reduced-Fat Lemon Pastry Crèmes and Peanut Butter Sandwiches. All are on sale for $3.50 a box.

Also new this year—Girl Scout Cookie Door Hangers. Each Girl Scout will receive 10 Cookie Door Hangers to help improve her sales. So, even if a customer is not home, they can still order their favorite Girl Scout Cookies off the Door Hanger.

Girl Scout Cookie orders will be taken through Jan. 22, with delivery between Feb. 10 and Feb. 26. Proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program benefit troop activities and support Girl Scout programs, including the maintenance of Camp Medill McCormick, camp scholarships, volunteer training, membership assistance, and outreach programs.
