Jazz invades River District

n Downtown River District establishments host weekend of great jazz March 4-6

It’s still cool outside, so relax with some spirit-warming jazz as Rockford’s River District comes alive with the sounds of great jazz performers during the last weekend of the Winter Rocks celebration March 4-6.

Coors Light, Lorden Distributing and several River District establishments are participating in this second annual jazz weekend where patrons can enjoy some of the Rockford region’s best live jazz musicians throughout the entire weekend. The participating restaurants and nightspots and blues acts include the following:

Bacchus Wine Bar, 515 E. State St. (968-9463)—Salva Me, Friday, March 4, 10 p.m. ($3 cover).

Carlyle Brewing Company, 215 E. State St. (963-2739)—Harlan Jefferson, Saturday, March 5, 9 p.m. (no cover)

Deb’s Little Italy, 501 E. State St. (963-0099)—Boulas, Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, 7:30 p.m. (no cover).

Irish Rose, 519 E. State St. (964-0480)—Narnia Quartet with Matt Ulery, Saturday, March 5, 9:30 p.m. (no cover).

Kryptonite, 308 W. State St. (965-0931)—The Saps, Friday, March 4, 10 p.m. ($5 cover); Salva Me, Saturday, March 5, 10 p.m. ($5 cover); Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers, Sunday, March 6, 8 p.m. ($5 cover).

Octane Upbeat Casual Dining, 124 N. Main St. (965-4012)—Cosmic Haze, Saturday, March 5, 9:30 p.m. (no cover).
