Jefferson to hold transportation meeting

State Rep. Chuck Jefferson, D-Rockford, will hold the first meeting of his Transportation Advisory Committee meeting from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the E.J. “Zeke” Giorgi Center, 200 S. Wyman St., Rockford.

“Solid infrastructure is the center to any great city,” Jefferson said. “Roads, railroads and our airport represent the main engines of growth for our community. I want to take the information I receive from this advisory committee back to Springfield to better represent Rockford.”

Jefferson has citizen advisory committees on a number of issues, including education, seniors, public safety, transportation and veterans’ affairs. The advisory committees allow citizens to get involved in the legislative process and provide Jefferson with feedback on issues facing the General Assembly that affect the Rockford area.

“This advisory committee meeting is open to everyone interested in transportation issues, including members of the community,” said Jefferson. “I want to get the most diverse viewpoints and ideas that I possibly can.”
