n Legislator wants to quench the thirst for responsive representation

State Rep. Chuck Jefferson (D-Rockford) announced he will be visiting local restaurants to meet with residents and buy them coffee to gain community feedback about issues currently being debated in Springfield.

“I enjoy meeting with residents and hearing their opinions about the issues facing our state,” Jefferson said. “This is the best part of my job, getting to meet people and hear what issues are important to them. I have vowed to be an open and accessible advocate for the people of Rockford, and these coffee talks are one way I can stay in touch with the people I represent.”

Jefferson will be purchasing coffee and chatting with customers from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the following:

Friday, April 22—The Bagel Place, 3600 E. State St., in Rockford

Monday, April 25—Sammy’s, 307 S. Main St., in Rockford

Monday, May 9—Morning Glory, 408 7th St., Rockford.

“Illinois is confronting a number of difficult issues, and the state’s financial situation is not making our choices any easier,” Jefferson said.

“I need to hear from residents about their priorities so I can make sure that I’m casting the best votes possible for our city.”
