Rockford native joins RSO for a day of family fun at Coronado Theatre
The Rockford Symphony Orchestra announces the first concert of the Family Series for the 2005-2006 season.
Perennial favorite and Rockford native Jim Gill performs in the KinderKonzert Jim Gill Live! at the Coronado Theatre at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6.
Gill will perform new arrangements for orchestra premiering with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. Jims music is described as a family concert filled with new works in symphonic play.
Gill most often travels the country leading Concerts of Music and Play accompanied simply by his banjo. With the full orchestra, the music and opportunities for play are greatly enhanced. Children and families will have the chance to listen, clap, sing and move along to Jims music, games and rhymes. Jims enthusiasm and deep understanding of the power of music and family to create joy have given him the reputation as a consummate childrens performer.
Immediately following the concert, the RSO presents its popular event On Stage. Families attending On Stage will have an opportunity to participate in an Instrument Playground where real musical instruments will be available for children to try out. Assistants and musicians will be available to help the children play the instruments, which are provided by Guzzardo Music.
Tickets for Jim Gill Live! are $8 for adults and $6 for children; tickets for On Stage are an additional $3 per person and include the Instrument Playground and refreshments. For further information, or to order tickets, call 815-965-0049 or visit the RSO Web site, www.rockfordsymphony.com.
