Jimmy John's debuts

ELGIN—Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops is celebrating its Machesney Park, Ill., debut by throwing a grand-opening celebration on Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 10121 N. Second Street, which is located in front of Kohl’s on the corner of Hwy 251 and Hwy 173.

During the four-hour celebration, Jimmy John’s will sell its award-winning subs for $1.50 and chips and drinks for 50 cents each.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops is unlike any sub shop in the industry; no games or gimmicks, just old-fashioned, homemade sandwiches made from fresh-baked bread, all-natural meats and vegetables that are sliced daily at each restaurant.

The 36-seat restaurant, which opened on November 1, 2005, employs 17 workers and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In addition, the store delivers to the immediate area and accepts all major credit cards.

Ron Tapley, Keith Nelson, Lee Youngberg and Jim Moser of Jimmy John’s of Rockford, Ill., own the store. Tapley was a franchise consultant for Jimmy John’s for over three years and loved the brand and concept so much that he decided to open a franchise. The Machesney Park location is the first of four stores that the group will open in the Rockford area over the next two years.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Ill. In just 22 years, the company has grown to more than 300 corporate and franchised locations in more than 27 states and two countries. The company is known for its obsession with fresh, quality products and high-speed execution. For more information, visit www.jimmyjohns.com.
