Jimmy John’s hosts grand opening party April 1

CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops is celebrating its Rockford debut by throwing a grand opening party Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 3051 N. Perryville Rd., which is in front of Woodman’s Food Market, next to Hollywood Video.

During the four-hour event, Jimmy John’s will sell its award-winning subs (No. 1 through No. 6) for $1.50, and chips and drinks for 50 cents each. In addition, radio station 97.5 WZOK will host a live remote from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops is unlike any sub shop in the industry; no games or gimmicks, just old-fashioned, homemade sandwiches made from fresh-baked bread, all-natural meats and vegetables that are sliced daily at each restaurant.

The 40-seat restaurant has 19 employees and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store delivers to the immediate area, and accepts all major credit cards.

Ron Tapley, Keith Nelson, Lee Youngberg and Jim Moser of Jimmy John’s of Rockford, Inc., own and operate the store. Tapley was a franchise consultant for Jimmy John’s for four years, and loved the brand and concept so much he decided to open a franchise. This is the group’s second location, with plans to open two additional stores in Rockford.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Ill. In 23 years, the company has grown to more than 380 corporate and franchised locations in more than 34 states and two countries. The company is known for its obsession with fresh, quality products and high-speed execution. For more information, visit www.jimmyjohns.com.
