Jimmy Shuckama to play Irish Rose

A rarely-seen band will take the stage at the Irish Rose at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27. Jimmy Shuckama, the band that brought you great tunes like “Rollin’ on Dubs” and their hilarious rendition of Ween’s “Bananas and Blow” will make the perfect close to a Rockford weekend downtown.

Doug Fleming (lead guitar), Adran Brunett (vocals), Chuck Maccias (rhythm guitar) and Joe Hernandez (bass) fuse rock, blues and folk (and a little reggae) together with a conglomoration of their collective attitudes to create a sound I like to call “sarcasti-rock.” Although a great deal of their originals are sweet, intellectual and great on the ears, there is still an overwhelming sensation of facetiousness when Brunett takes the microphone and theatrically belts out both obscure and classic rock covers.

Show starts at 8:30 p.m., and there is (as always) a $3 cover; for more information, call 299-2375.
