The Jodi Beach Trio has announced the release of their first CD recording, The Very Thought of You, to the country of Japan. Through an agreement reached with Norma Music, a Japanese retail music distributor, the CD was released on July 20, and has been placed in stores throughout Japan.

A spokesman for Norma Music, Shuichi Iwama, reports that sales are good. The CD has been critically reviewed in the Japanese music publication, Swing Journal. Previously sold internationally only through the Internet, this marks the first international distribution agreement for the Jodi Beach Trio. They look forward to future distribution to other countries and widespread distribution within the United States.

The Jodi Beach Trio is a popular regional jazz trio, acclaimed for pleasing audiences across the country with unique and original arrangements of well-loved jazz classics, seasoned with the finest contemporary works. Concerts, festivals, and other large venues allow the Trio to expand their instrumentation to include a variety of soloists, creating an eclectic, enjoyable and exciting experience.

After the 2002 release of their first recording, The Very Thought of You, The Jodi Beach Trio was awarded two RAMI awards for Best Traditional Jazz Group and Best Original Song of 2003. They again were awarded the 2004 RAMI Award for Best Traditional Jazz Group. They have also been named one of the Best of Rockford winners for On the Waterfront for years 2002, 2003 and 2004.

This international release comes as a well-timed “precursor” to the Trio’s upcoming release of their second CD, In Other Words, in early fall. Both CDs were recorded and produced at the Noise Chamber in Rockford.
