John H. Young selected as associate judge for 17th Judicial Circuit

Cynthia Y. Cobbs, director of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts, and Kathryn Zenoff, chief judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit, have announced that the 17th Circuit voted to select John H Young as associate judge of the 17th Circuit, filling the permissive associate judge vacancy.

When notified of the selection, Young commented, “I am thrilled at the opportunity and look forward to serving the citizens of Boone and Winnebago counties.” Chief Judge Zenoff also added, “John Young is a well-respected member of the legal community, and will be a strong addition to the 17th Circuit bench.”

Young is a graduate of Belvidere High School and received his undergraduate degree from Judson College in Elgin, Ill. In 1985, he graduated from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, and has been an Associate (1985-1990) and Partner (1991- present) at the Reno & Zahm Law Offices in Rockford, practicing mostly in civil law.

Young is a member of the Boone, Winnebago and Illinois Bar Associations, and also served as a member of the Boone County Board from 1996-2002. He has two children and resides in Boone County.
