June 3 town meeting focuses on uninsured

Rockford Health Council has been an advocate in seeking comprehensive solutions for the problems faced by the uninsured of our community. In the spirit of community dialogue around this important topic, we are inviting public participation in a Town Hall Meeting on addressing the needs of the uninsured.

This meeting is sponsored by the Rockford Health Council as a community service, and will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, in the Auditorium of the Giorgi Building, 200 South Wyman St. in Rockford.

The agenda for this meeting is as follows:

3-4 p.m.—Health information and free health screening

4-5:30 p.m.—Town hall meeting:

a) Overview of the problems of the uninsured

b) Local services available to the uninsured

c) Accessing services from Select Providers (Crusader Clinic, Winnebago County Health Department, Rockford Health Council and others)

d) Legislative perspective (members of Congress and the Illinois General Assembly have been invited)

e) Other perspectives—people tell their stories

f) Dialogue with the audience

People are urged to come for free health information and screening from Crusader Clinic and the Winnebago County Health Department, and to learn about local health care resources, as well as options under consideration to provide greater coverage for the uninsured.
