Keep an eye on parks

The Rockford Park District Police Department encourages community involvement in helping with safety and security of the park system by participating in the Eagle Eye Park Watch program, an effective tool in fighting crime. The program is similar to the neighborhood watch programs, and is used as a foundation for many other educational programs conducted by the Park Police Department. The Department asks citizens to be alert and report vandalism, safety hazards, littering/dumping, fires, crime, and suspicious activity right away by calling 9-1-1 for emergencies, or (815) 987-5800 for non-emergencies. The Community Services Division of the Department has designed safety classes for schools as well as for neighborhood groups and programs. To schedule a Park Watch presentation, call Officer Lisa Hodges at (815) 289-0047 (TTY, 815-987-8874).
