Keith School selects Gary Kohn as new Marketing and Communications director

Gary Kohn has joined the faculty at Keith School as the new Marketing and Communications director. Kohn will manage all internal and external communications, and be responsible for the oversight, direction and development of the school’s marketing plan.

“We are delighted that Gary has joined our staff and are certain his past experience and expertise will be a wonderful benefit for Keith,” said Jon Esler, head of Keith School.

Kohn, 38, spent the last two years with Associated Bank as a marketing specialist for 60 branches in the Illinois region. During that time, he supported the sales efforts of the retail, commercial and private banking divisions and helped create company-wide sponsorship and donation programs.

Prior to his days with Associated, Kohn spent 11 years working in professional sports starting his career in 1994 with the Rockford Lightning as the team’s director of public relations and game operations. After two seasons in Rockford, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he served as the public relations director for the Columbus Chill from 1996-1999 and then as the assistant director of public relations for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League.

Kohn returned to the area in 2001 to join the Professional Women’s Bowling Association as the tour’s media director. Currently, he and his wife, Sandi, reside in Rockford with their 3-year old son, Benjamin.
