Keith Urban grew up in Australia and loved listening to his parents’ country music albums. He learned to play the guitar by age 7 and mimicked all of the songs he admired. His dream of going to Nashville came true in 1992, and his breakthrough as a solo artist came in 2000.

His self-titled album featured three Top 5 hits, including the No. 1 hit But For The Grace of God. He followed that with his 2002 release, Golden Road, which quickly went double platinum and spent more than 100 weeks on the charts. This included Somebody Like You, which spent eight consecutive weeks at the top of the charts—remaining at No. 1 longer than any other country artist in 2002. He has most recently released Be Here, which is said to be a more personal and passionate album. The songwriting faces some of the questions Urban asks himself about life, love and who he is. Reaching platinum certification status after only being out for six weeks reflects its success. He currently has five No. 1 songs with eight Top 5 hits, and has recently been seen on the 2005 Grammy Award Show appearing with Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson, members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dickey Betts, and Elvin Bishop. The 2005 CMT Awards have nominated Urban for 2005 Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year for Days Go By, and Hottest Video of the Year for You’re My Better Half. He can also be seen on CMT’s Crossroads in March in a special collaboration with John Fogerty.
