Kiki Bs has announced Mindy Banicki will offer a series of Demonstration Cooking Classes at the Edgebrook Center restaurant, 1641 N. Alpine Road. Classes are $35 per person.
Locally Produced Foods and Community Sustained Agriculture will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3. The class will demonstrate how a delicious, bountiful meal may be prepared by incorporating locally produced foods. In addition to tasting several recipes prepared from local ingredients, the class will discuss why it is worthwhile to shop at a farmers market and the advantages of joining a Community Sustained Agriculture (CSA).
Brining will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7. Brining is an ancient method for flavoring food that is all the rage on the current culinary scene. Brining adds flavor, moisture and improved texture to lean meats, poultry and seafood. There will be several taste comparisons, and tips to help you prepare an unforgettably moist Thanksgiving turkey.
Classes will resume in January, after the holiday season.
Banicki began her school, Cooking for Life, in 1992. Her cooking school and recipes have been featured in both local and national publications.
