Kiss Me, Kate comes to the Coronado Theatre

Kiss Me, Kate, the Tony Award-winning musical that features hit after hit by the great American songwriter Cole Porter, will play at the Coronado Theatre for one performance only, Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range in price from $30 to $50 and are on sale now at the MetroCentre box office, all Centre Events locations, online at or by phone at 968-5222. One of the all-time great musicals, Kiss Me, Kate sparkles with wit and romance. You’ll revel in the hilarious antics of Sam and Bella Spewack’s story featuring Tony Award-winning costumes and 18 unforgettable classic Cole Porter songs including, “Another Op’nin, Another Show,” “Too Darn Hot,” “So In Love,” “Wunderbar,” “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and “Why Can’t You Behave.” Set backstage during an out-of-town tryout for a musical based on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, egotistical actor-producer Fred Graham and his ex-wife, Lilli Vanessi, bicker and romance their way through this timeless story. And just like Shakespeare’s Petruchio and Kate—whom they play on stage in the play-within-a-play—it’s a fight to the finish in a saucy, classic battle of the sexes! This irresistible musical comedy will have you rolling in the aisles with delight. Don’t miss this one-time performance. Special discounts are available for Broadway at the Coronado subscribers and groups of 20 or more by calling 968-5600. Kiss Me, Kate is presented by Jam Theatricals and Centre Events as part of the Savant Capital presents “Broadway at the Coronado” 2003-2004 series, and is sponsored locally by the Rockford Register Star, 13 WREX-TV and B-103.
