Klehm Arboretum honors 20th anniversary of land donation

Klehm Arboretum’s Oct. 19 ‘Sage’ dinner celebrates 20th year of Klehm family’s gift

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Klehm family’s gift of land to establish an arboretum at a special “Sage” dinner Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Giovanni’s Restaurant in Rockford.

When urban sprawl is everywhere, it is remarkable these people had the vision, wisdom and commitment to preserve this extremely unique collection. The evening will be filled with garden knowledge as world-renowned horticulturist Roy G. Klehm presents “Gems in My Garden.” Klehm will share his expertise and experience about a lifelong passion for plants. As his extensive list of plant introductions prove, he is truly a jewel in the world of horticulture.

A special autumn dinner will be served, plus the evening’s silent auction—“Mother Nature’s Nursery—A unique offering of Garden Enrichments & Outdoor Pursuits.” The auction provides opportunities to support projects that will enhance ongoing operations of the Arboretum. Auction items include the sponsorship of planters and trees, enhancement of a collection, and the sponsorship of a community day, among other opportunities.

Several reservation levels are available. Complete details are available online at www.klehm.org or call 815-965-8146.

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden is open year-round and features the most complete conifer collection in the world.
