Klehm Arboretum seeking interns

Northern Illinois Botanical Society’s Horticulture, Special Events and Youth Education departments are seeking energetic, dedicated and hard-working interns. Positions are available for spring, summer and fall semesters on site at the Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Interns must be in their junior year or higher.

The Northern Illinois Botanical Society (NIBS), organized to provide botanical education for people of all ages, is supported by memberships, gifts, grants and fundraising events. Internships in any of NIBS’ departments will provide exciting, valuable hands-on experience.

The Horticultural Internship contains a fair amount of physical labor, but will be well-rewarded with gorgeous gardens and an increased working knowledge.

The Special Events Internship provides event hands-on experience and education in areas of marketing, sponsorship sales, volunteers and logistics necessary to put the future planner on the industry’s cutting edge. Days and hours are flexible. Access to an automobile is required with mileage reimbursed.

The Youth Education Assistant Intern has an opportunity to directly affect many northern Illinois youth. This internship is flexible to fit your strengths, hours and goals.

For more information, call the Arboretum at (815) 965-8146, or mail a cover letter and resumé to Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, 2701 Clifton Ave., Rockford, IL 61102. Please mark your letter with attention to the appropriate person. The contact person for the Horticulture Department is Harry Johnson; the Special Events director is Vickie Fogel; and the Youth Education coordinator is Kim Birge-Liberman.
