Kortman Gallery to display logo contest finalists

On Friday, April 19, the Kortman Gallery will present a display of the 55 finalists that have been selected for the City of Rockford Sesquicentennial Logo Contest. A reception for the designers will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

More than 150 designs were submitted by graphic designers, students, and the public at large. The submissions were narrowed down to these 55 designs which will be on display in the gallery until May 4. The winning design will be formally announced at City Hall on May 6.

“This is a unique display for the Kortman Gallery,” says Doc Slafkosky, gallery director. “We feel it is important for the public to see the enthusiastic work that these designers submitted. It’s great to know that so many people care about our city and how it is visually represented.”

The Kortman Gallery is located upstairs at J.R. Kortman Center for Design, 107 N. Main St., downtown Rockford. Besides the April 19 reception, the public may view the logo designs during normal gallery hours: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
