Kraig Kenning at Mendelssohn Club Nov. 9

Call him Contemporary Folk, Blues, Roots Rock, American finger style or Americana, Kraig Kenning is sure to delight. He’ll be performing at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mendelssohn Club, 415 N. Church St., presented by Charlotte’s Web.

National Slide Guitar Champion Kenning’s “… deft finger picking and slide work on acoustic and resonator guitar is truly impressive, but so is his flair for crafting intelligent, heartfelt lyrics and memorable melodies,” praised the Chicago Tribune. Whichever style he plays, “Kraig’s playing is now up to par with Leo Kottke and Willy Porter, songwriting equalling Lang Ford, Jimmy Dale Gillmore and The Bottle Rockets.” (Fox Valley Blues Society)

In reviewing his last album, Every Precious Moment, WXRT’s (Chicago) Richard Milne declared, “The Kraig Kenning waters run deep on his latest compact disk….”

Touring steadily for the past 10 years, with more than 200 dates a year at everything from Borders to the South Florida Folk Festival, from libraries to Taste of Chicago, has shaped both Kenning’s music and performances into a finely-honed show. The Westmont Park District said, “We keep asking Kenning to come back year after year. Kraig is an absolute professional to work with.”
