La Voz Latina, an advocacy, cultural, and education resource development center, has announced a contest to design a new logo for the 35-year-old agency.
The logo contest is open to all Boone and Winnebago high school and college students, specifically Rock Valley and Rockford College students. The logo designed will serve as a part of La Voz Latinas new brand image, and will be used on the agencys new Web site and all marketing materials.
The agency is in search of a logo that represents community diversity. Diversity is not only about people, said La Voz Latina Board member Daniel Saavedra, AIA, partner in Saavedra Gehlhausen Architects, it is also about encouraging new ideas and approaches.
Saavedra said he believes by involving youth, the agency hopes the new logo will reflect La Voz Latinas future.
The logo must reflect the Latino community, not specific to any one Central or South American country.
The logo should look ethnic and professional.
The logo must represent La Voz Latina programs and services.
The logo should represent diversity.
All logo submissions will be accepted in the following format and with the requested information:
Print-ready, scalable format, such as portable EPS or Adobe PDF
JPEG or PNG thumbnail
Hand-drawn logos in pencil or marker no bigger than 8.5 inches by 11 inches
Explanation of design concept or description
Submitters full name, e-mail address, phone number, and high school or college affiliation

Submission deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, March 9.
The winner of the logo contest will have the opportunity to work with a professional graphic artist to finalize his/her logo, which will be broadly publicized throughout the northern Illinois region. The winner will also receive a prize that will be disclosed when the winner is announced.
