Lawn mower races June 12

On June 12, the Ogle County Fair Association will host the 3rd Annual Ogle County Fair Association STA-BIL lawn mower races. They will be held in the grandstands at the Ogle County Fairgrounds, Oregon, Ill. The fairgrounds are located west of the town of Oregon at Route 64 and Limekiln Road

Registration starts at 8 a.m. Practice begins at 9 a.m. Time trials run from l0 a.m. – l p.m. The races start at l p.m. This will be a non-profit event to benefit the Ogle County Fair Association.

Lawn mowers race in four road course classes with all cutting blades removed. Classes are Stock (l0 mph), IMOW (20 mph), Prepared (50 mph), and Factory Experimental (60 mph). Racers from all over the United States will participate along with local racers. “Grassthletes” from the STA-BIL national Lawn Mower Racing Series will tear up the turf at speeds up to 60 mph. Husband and wife, father and son and ex brothers-in-law racing teams will be featured in the sod slinging saga of racing, humor, family togetherness and fun.

The cost is $5 for anyone older than 8 years of age. Anyone under 8 years of age is free. This is a fund-raiser for the Ogle County Fair Association. There will be a food stand on the ground.
