Learn to skate or play hockey

Rockford Park District’s Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs offer people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn skills to enjoy ice sports recreation for a lifetime.

Registration is under way for the next sessions, which meet once a week for six weeks beginning the week of Feb. 13 at Carlson Ice Arena in Loves Park. Classes are offered for ages 3 through adult.

Each figure skating student will receive a pass for five free public skating sessions; each new hockey student registered for the Ter-Mites1 or Ter-Mites 2 programs will receive a free hockey stick.

Registration deadlines are one week before each session begins; register by mail, phone, or in person at Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park. Walk-in registrations are also taken Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Park District Customer Service downtown, 401 S. Main St., Rockford.
