LEARNING TO SWING!: Students at the Rockford College Music Academy participated in a “Singing and Movement” class Friday, June 25, as part of their Rockford College Music Academy String and Piano Camp, held June 21-25. Special guest instructor Janine Brass (above, center), a movement teacher from South Beloit, taught the classically-trained musicians how to relate to their music using their voices and bodies. “The kids had a great time,” said Marti Frantz, director of the Rockford College Music Academy. “They loved her. It’s really remarkable how she’s able to teach from a wheel chair.” The week-long camp offered courses in singing and visual arts. “It’s a way for us to enrich what we do during the school year,” Frantz said.
