Lightning at home March 17

Want a safe bet? Try this—the CBA playoff series between the Rockford Lightning and Dakota Wizards will be settled in Rockford’s MetroCentre.

The bad thing is the Lightning are coming home at a 2-1 disadvantage. The Wizards won 120-101 Sunday night in Bismarck, N.D., to take a one-game lead in their best-of-five series.

After three straight games in Bismarck, the Lightning finally get to play in the front of their fans at 7:05 tonight (Wednesday) in the MetroCentre. If Rockford wins, there will be a Game Five, Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in the MetroCentre. Tickets for the Rockford game(s) were available by calling the Lightning office at (815) 874-4232.

For their final regular-season home game—a 121-90 victory over the Yakima Sun Kings at the MetroCentre—Rockford had its biggest fan turnout of the season: 5,531.

The Wizards won the first game in Bismarck 111-105 while Rockford evened the series at 1-1 with a 117-111 victory—without all-time leading scorer Ronnie Fields, who missed the contest after he suffered a scratched retina in the series opener. Fields returned for Game Three.
