Have you ever wanted to own an official, game-worn Rockford Lightning or IceHogs jersey? Your chance to get one is coming up in the next few days as both teams are auctioning their jerseys to fans.
The chance to own a piece of Lightning history is only a mouse click away. The team is holding an online auction for 22 different jerseys. Both home and away jerseys are available for the 10 players who were on the playoff roster and team mascot Freddy Flash.
Home jerseys are white with the players name and number. Road jerseys are identical, only in blue. The minimum bid on each jersey is $100. Fans have until 5 p.m., Friday, March 31 to place bids.
At press time, the highest bid was $300 for Roger Powells home jersey. His road shirt was at $160. Five jerseys hadnt been raised from the minimum $100 bid, and only one had yet to receive a bid. More info or to place a bid, visit the Lightnings Web site of www.rockfordlightning.com.
The IceHogs will hold their jersey auction Friday, April 7, during a game with the Quad City Mallards. The players will be wearing a special edition Lt. Hammy jersey during the game. The jersey features IceHogs mascot Hammy, dressed in military gear.
After the contest, fans will have the opportunity to bid on game-worn jerseys. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the IceHogs charitable foundation. To get tickets for the game and auction, call the MetroCentre at 968-5222.
