LIHEAP scam alert

Anyone who has applied for LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) should be aware there is a scam being perpetrated. Applicants are being called, told there is an application fee, and requesting a credit card to which to “charge” the fee. There is no application fee, and you should not give your personal information to anyone other than your caseworker. If someone calls and asks for this information, contact the Rockford Police Department as soon as possible.
