Liquid Soul performs at Rockfod 2000 Alliance

Frigid weather giving you the winter blues? Come on out to First Night, and let Liquid Soul melt down the ice. They’ll warm your heart and get you in the rhythm.

They’ll be performing from 2 p.m. to midnight New Year’s Eve at the MetroCentre. As part of the Rockford 2000 Alliance Volunteer Recognition Party, they’re scheduled to perform on the Left Stage from 9:15 to 10 p.m. and again from 11 to 11:45 p.m.

From their initial (packed) midnight Sunday club shows in Chicago through their special requested concert as part of the Presidential Inaugural Parade, to the current, in-constant-demand status as mainstage artists at large-scale music festivals around the world, every Liquid Soul show has one common factor: the audience is never standing still. While rooted in jazz, Liquid Soul creates a sonic-fusion of funk, hip-hop, rock, R&B and Latin sounds that defies genre classification.

Liquid Soul band leader/saxophonist Mars Williams simplifies a description, explaining, “Our goal is to throw a party every time we hit the stage, creating a groove that hits people right in the booty (said with a smile) and makes them dance. We’ve outlasted genres and trends–what we play is simply Liquid Soul music, which is about groove and atmosphere.”

This group has released three hot albums so far: Liquid Soul, Make Some Noise and Here’s The Deal. Critics continue to sing their praises. USA Today said, “It’s not often that the sheer exuberance of a band makes you forget about figuring out what genre they belong in and just get up and dance. But that’s what Chicago’s Liquid Soul does.”

“Chicago’s Liquid Soul is the funkiest band in the world,” raved Reuters. And the San Francisco Chronicle agreed: “Liquid Soul is the tightest and funkiest outfit in America… with a fresh sensibility that weaves the familiar with the inventive so seamlessly that all you want to do is dance.”

Come on out and see for yourself. And bring your dancing shoes!
