‘Living with Transplantation 2003’ set for April 12


The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois will host “Living with Transplantation 2003” at the Chicago-O’Hare Marriott from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, for transplant recipients of all organ types and those waiting or contemplating a transplant.

Living with Transplantation 2003 will include discussions on advancements in transplantation, updates on immunosuppressants and over-the-counter medications, women’s issues, day-to-day illness care, returning to work, and insurance and social security issues.

The event will also feature breakouts by transplant patients and an interactive day for pediatric patients and their siblings. Sessions include the following: kidney, pancreas, liver, heart and lung transplantation, interactive sessions for pediatric transplant recipients and their siblings, sessions for parents and caregivers of pediatric transplant recipients.

Also featured is a full exhibitor area and a help desk for individual questions and concerns. The program is made possible through a collective effort of all area transplant centers, pharmaceutical companies, area support groups and foundations.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 16 and younger and include registration fee, admission to programs, continental breakfast, snacks and lunch. Registration deadline is Friday, April 4.
