Local author hosts publishing workshop April 23

Karla Manarchy Clark will conduct a publishing workshop for aspiring authors Saturday, April 23. Clark, a Rockford native, is the author of two self-published books: Between Courses: A CulinaryLove Story and Knotted Pearls and Other Stories.

The workshop will be held at Altamore’s Ristorante from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Topics include: publishing options, advantages and disadvantages of options, best books and Web sites, how to know your manuscript is ready, and promoting your book. Cost of the workshop is $25, which includes a box lunch and a packet of valuable information.

Clark is a graduate of Boylan High School, Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University. She holds a degree in journalism, has worked as a free-lance writer and is currently employed as a pharmaceutical representative for Abbott Laboratories. She lives in Rockford with her husband and their two sons, where she is at work on a new novel set in her hometown of Rockford.
