Local neurologist Farouk Khan, M.D., Ph.D., will speak on multiple sclerosis at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, at the Ramada Inn, 1300 E. South St., Freeport. Registration begins at 5 p.m., and the event is free and open to the public.
Khan is a member of the Freeport Health Network and is the director of the Stroke Center. He is also a member of the National Panel of Experts on MS.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that affects more than 400,000 people in the United States alone. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can last a lifetime.
