Lockwood Park offers hauntingly good fun

Rockford Park District’s Lockwood Park and Children’s Farm will host a variety of afternoon and evening activities for children and families during the last three weekends in October. Following are the six activities, along with dates, times, and costs:

Dragon’s Castle Corn Maze—Oct. 14-16, 21-23, 28-30; Fridays, 6-9:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 2-9 p.m.; Sundays, 2-5 p.m.; admission $1, children younger than 1 free; proceeds benefit Whiz Kids Enrichment Center;

Glow in the Dark Pony Ring — Oct. 14-15, 21-22, 28-29; Fridays and Saturdays, 6-8 p.m.; for ages 1-7 only, must be under 4 feet 6 inches tall; $2 per ride;

Goblin Gameyard—Oct. 14-16, 21-23, 28-30; Fridays, 6-8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2-8 p.m.; Sundays, 2-5 p.m.; games, activities, and prizes for kids; games start at $1 each; free admission;

Boo Barnyard—Oct. 15-16, 22-23, 29-30; Saturdays and Sundays, noon-5 p.m.; free admission; friendly farm animals await visitors to the decorated Children’s Farm barn;

Pumpkin Launch—Oct. 15-16, 22-23, 29-30; Saturdays and Sundays, 2-5 p.m.; send pumpkins flying through the air with Lockwood’s slingshot; $1 per launch; and

Undertaker’s Buzzard Egg Hunt—Oct. 16, 23, 30; Sundays, 3 p.m.; free; search for almost 1,000 black and orange eggs containing candy, plus 10 special eggs with free activity admission passes.
