On Friday evening, April 29, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) will host the 14th annual Bid For Youth Auction at the Blackhawk Center in Oregon. Proceeds from the event help support local LSSI programs for children and families, says Kathy Hall, director of resource development. The event is a lot of fun for the entire family.
More than 300 items will be offered in a silent live auction during the fun-filled evening that will also include refreshments and a door prize. A sampling of auction items includes the following: NASCAR collector memorabilia, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals tickets, a Lincoln/Blackhawk bronze statue valued at $3,000, autographed Sparky Anderson baseball cards and Michael Jordan picture, an Isabel Bloom Isabel Rose sculpture, and tickets to Wheel of Fortune. Auction participants can also bid on a Rockford Speedway Family Fun Pack, which includes four reserved seat admission tickets and food.
Auction attendees will also have a chance to win this years grand door prize: a one-night Bed & Breakfast package for two at the Clock Tower Inn in Rockford. In addition to the numerous auction items and grand door prize, a Magnavox 7-inch portable DVD player, which includes accessories and three DVDs, and a handmade quilt will be raffled.
Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six tickets for $5. Admission to the auction is $5. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the live auction begins at 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Lutheran Social Services of Illinois youth programs. LSSI counselors provide crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, substance abuse screenings and education, and comprehensive educational programs. Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is a statewide not-for-profit social service agency of the three Illinois synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with more than 100 program locations, as well as an agency of the United Way.
