“Mayor Morrissey’s Omelette with cheeeeeeese!”: Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey (third from right) seated with parents Josephine and Joe Morrissey, gathered with family and friends Sunday, June 5 to field test a new Rockford omelette. “The Mayor Morrissey Omelette”—a sausage, mushroom, tomato, onion, spinach and avocado omelette, served at Lydia’s Café, 1710 Rural St. Many ordered the omelette with cheese; however, restaurateur Terri Hallstrom specified, “The authentic Mayor Morrissey Omelette is without cheese.” Mayor Morrissey joked: “I’m an Independent. I like mine without the cheese.” For more information about the omelette and other dishes, contact Lydia’s Café at 229-0322.
