M. Waltrip coming to Rockford

Michael Waltrip, who has won two of the last three Daytona 500s, is scheduled to make an appearance at Rockford Speedway on July 8 on behalf of the local Easter Seals Children’s Development Center.

He won’t race that night, but he will drop the first green flag and be available to sign autographs. Racing will be held in the late model, American Short Tracker and roadrunner divisions. Ticket information for the event will be released by the speedway soon.

Rockford Speedway has had a lot of big names appear at the track over the years—the late Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, Sterling Marlin, Greg Biffle, the late Alan Kulwicki, Ken Schrader, Cale Yarborough and Darrell Waltrip, Michael’s older brother.
