Maculan Chiropractic presents two health lectures

March is National Nutrition Awareness Month. Maculan Chiropractic Clinic is celebrating by having displays in the office illustrating some of the most common and hard-to-explain eating concepts, such as serving sizes and nutritional density of a variety of foods.

Maculan is also sponsoring two complimentary lectures by Elizabeth Lemes, N.D. Wed., March 30 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the clinic. The topic is “Grassroots Solutions to Modern-Day Health Problems.” Her lecture will cover how water affects your health, using digestive aids, making fast meals that are healthy and solving other health crises.

Lemes is a naturopathic health professional in Lombard, Ill., who focuses on nutritional solutions to health crises. She has been practicing alternative health methods since 1999. She began to look into alternative healing methods after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1995.

Dr. Maculan feels nutrition is an important issue because the old adage “we are what we eat” is proving to be true. Dr. Maculan says, “Excellent nutrition is the key to staying healthy.” New research shows the significance of the food choices people make and how insidiously and tragically the wrong choices can impact their lives. It also shows that good nutritional changes can improve, prevent and even reverse our nation’s most devastating diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.

Good nutrition supports the immune system, which is the body’s army against disease. By increasing the strength of the immune system, the body is better able to correct precancerous changes and fight off germs and other invaders. “Our clinic is focused on educating our community. Knowledge helps patients make the healthy choices to live well and enjoy a higher quality of life,” says Dr. Maculan. No matter how good a doctor is, he or she cannot heal the human body. It is the body that does the healing. The material needed for healing is delivered to the body through the foods people choose. The more nutritionally dense the foods, the more “top of the line” body-building materials are available for the body to use in repairs. The body regenerates all tissues regularly. Each month, we completely replace our skin; each year we replace all our brain cells.

The complimentary lectures will be given at the Maculan Chiropractic Clinic, 1005 S. Main St. Space is limited, so please call 965-3212 now to reserve space.
