Whether you like old cars or own a cherry yourself, you should make plans to attend Malcolm Eaton Enterprises 12th Annual Pork Chop Dinner and Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 21. The event will be at Malcolm Eaton, 570 W. Lamm Rd., Freeport (just south of the Stephenson County Fairgrounds).
Car Show starts at 9 a.m. and is free to attend. The show is presented by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 679.
If you own a classic and want to compete for one of the Best of awards or a Special Interest trophy, register by contacting Julie Hilliger at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises, (815) 235-7181. The Top 73 entrants will be honored as determined by the participants.
As you stroll through the many vehicles on display, you can relive past memories or make new ones with family and friends while enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of the day. This year, there will be 200 more dinners available (as the event sold out at 1,500 last year); there are also expanded dining opportunities with drive-thru and take-outs available.
So come hungry, and for $8 you can feast on two succulent pork chops with all the fixings (baked potato, green beans, applesauce, roll and a beverage) any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. And while you eat, you can peruse the vintage cars on display and enjoy the DJ entertainment of 3D Sound.
Proceeds will go toward expanding Malcom Eaton Enterprises Spirit toilet tissue manufacturing operation. Tickets are available at Cub FoodsFreeport, Lena State Bank and Malcom Eaton Enterprises.
Make a day of it in Freeport this Sunday, and support Malcolm Eaton Enterprises in their continuing efforts to provide employment opportunities and job skills training to adults with disabilities in the region.
