March For Meals campaign March 14

Lifescape Community Services announced they will be participating in the national 2007 March For Meals campaign. Lifescape’s March For Meals event will include two special presentations.

March 14, Lifescape will sponsor Nutrition Bingo at Golden Agers Senior Center, 1115 6th St., Rockford. And on Wednesday, April 28th, Lifescape’s 2006 “Super Senior” Award Winner, Dr. Robert Heerens, M.D. will speak at First Lutheran Church, 218 E. Sixth St., Pecatonica, Ill. about the topic, “A Senior Health Journal.” Each participant will receive a free health journal.

Both events include a meal for seniors aged 60 and older, consisting of baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables, bread, butter, 1 percent milk, and a dessert. Reservations are required for the meal, and must be made by 10 a.m. the day prior to the event. For more information, call Susan M. Smith at Lifescape, 815-490-1106.

March For Meals is a national campaign, in which Lifescape is a participant, to raise awareness of senior hunger, and to encourage action on the part of the local community. Senior nutrition programs across the United States promote March For Meals in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fund-raising initiatives.
