March & Mail for Peace planned for March 8


JANESVILLE, Wis.—On Saturday, March 8, a coalition of concerned stateline area organizations and citizens will sponsor “March & Mail for Peace” in Janesville.

A coalition of regional peace-facilitating groups including the Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation, Rock County Citizens for Peace, Southern Lake Citizens for Peace, and the United Nations Association—South Central Chapter, encourage everyone concerned about the political policies of our government toward Iraq to nonviolently demonstrate their commitment for peace with this march.

The march will assemble at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by the Basic’s parking lot at 1221 E. Woodman (behind the Milton Avenue Taco Bell). Marchers will walk north along the sidewalks of Milton Avenue. to the Janesville Post Office,1818 Milton Avenue. Those who wish to participate but are unable to walk, may join marchers at the Post Office.

Participants are encouraged to bring signs with messages of peace and to write to their congressional representatives and senators prior to the march to mail collectively: Rep. Paul Ryan, 20 S. A limited number of postcards for signatures will be available.
