Maynard Ferguson to perform in Freeport


Maynard Ferguson and His Big Bop Nouveau Band will give a full-length evening performance at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 11 at Freeport Masonic Temple, with an opening performance by the Highland Community College Jazz Ensemble directed by David Dunn.

Ferguson is a jazz legend, an internationally renowned big band leader, and one of the world’s greatest trumpet players. Drawing upon bebop, straight-ahead jazz, funk, swing, classical and contemporary music to create a fresh sound within the classic big band form, Ferguson continues to wow audiences around the world.

Catch a performance by HCC Jazz Ensemble, then enjoy the virtuosic technique and phenomenal upper register that catapulted Maynard Ferguson to stardom and three Grammy nominations.
