Mayor’s Arts Awards names winners

Ingrid Neuhofer Dohm claims Individual Artist Award

Richard and Lon Behr, Darcy Anderson, Hien Son, WilliamsMcCarthy, Rockford Art Museum’s ‘HE & SHE’ also winners

Each year, the Mayor’s Arts Awards honors the local creative spirit. Winners in the six categories of the 2007 Mayor’s Arts Awards were announced at the annual Mayor’s Arts Awards ceremony June 7 at Coronado Theatre.

Winners were as follow, with a description of the category:

Individual Artist: Ingrid Neuhofer Dohm—The Individual Artist Award goes to an artist with a long-standing commitment to the arts and community.

Individual Arts Advocate: Richard and Lon Behr—The Individual Arts Advocate award honors those who support the arts through advocacy or volunteerism.

Star Teacher: Darcy Anderson Hill—The Star Teacher Award goes to a teacher whose creative use of the arts enriches learning.

Exceptional Student of the Arts: Hien Son—In the world of art education, the Exceptional Student of the Arts Award honors high school-aged students involved in the arts.

Community Impact by a Business or Corporation: WilliamsMcCarthy, LLP—The Community Impact by a Business Award recognizes area businesses that encourage art through financial support, workplace art, and employee volunteerism in the arts.

Creative Cultural Event: Rockford Art Museum’s “HE & SHE: Vallien and Hydman-Vallien”—The Creative Cultural Event Award honors an event bringing heightened visibility to the arts.
