The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee (WPPC) of the McHenry County Defenders announces its June Natural Yard Tour! This Yard Tour will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the home of Pat Miloy and John Junkrowski at 18617 River Road, Marengo. The tour starts promptly at 10 a.m. and lasts approximately two hours.

Started over 10 years ago, this beautiful hillside prairie leads into acres of native wetland plants and grasses which run along the bank of the Kishwaukee River. A splendid combination to behold!

Directions: Take Rt. 47 to Rt. 176. Follow Rt. 176 west to Millstream Rd. Turn right (north) on Millstream and follow to River Road. Turn left (west) on River Rd. to the first driveway.

The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee (WPPC) of the McHenry County Defenders promotes environmental techniques of gardening and landscaping by organizing the seasonal Natural Yards Tours. One weekend day per month, from May through September, the tours focus on a different type of landscaping design, incorporating native plants and grasses. These walks showcase a variety of members’ projects and will take place rain or shine. Visiting these natural yards can be inspiring to anyone interested in natural gardening. We hope to see you out there!
