Mel Anderson Rec Path partially closed

A portion of the Mel Anderson Rec Path in northwest Rockford will be closed because of Sanitary District work until May 11.

The 3-mile paved path runs through Lockwood and Talcott-Page parks, and also goes through Searls Park along Kent Creek.

The closed-off area is between Richmond and Vermont streets, just north of Auburn Street.

Other Rockford Park District recreation paths include the 10-mile Rock River Recreation Path, the 1.43-mile paved Cherry Valley Path, the 14.9-mile Perryville Path, the 1.57-mile Willow Creek Path, and the 1.7-mile Charles Street Path. Walking paths are also featured at several neighborhood parks, including Brown Park, Dahlquist Park, Landstrom Park, Mulford Crest Park and Wantz Park. Midway Village & Museum Center also contains a 1.4-mile walking path.
