The Alzheimers Association will host its 2004 Winnebago County Memory Walk kickoff luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at Giovannis, 610 N. Bell School Rd. The luncheon is free to attendees.
Memory Walk is the Alzheimers Associations signature fund-raising event, and the kickoff luncheon is an informational event for those who are interested in organizing teams to take part in the September Walk. Teams can be composed of family members, co-workers, church groups, school clubs, service groups or any group of people who want to help support the Alzheimers Association mission, which is to enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers, and to eliminate Alzheimers disease through the advancement of research.
This year, Dr. William Gorski, president and CEO of SwedishAmerican Health System, and Dr. Robert White, assistant administrator-Medical Services of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center are serving as the corporate co-chairmen of Memory Walk. Mary Stoker Smith, anchor for WTVO, is serving as the media chairman. Dr. Gorski and Dr. White will on hand to help kick off the activities on July 16.
Local sponsors of this years Memory Walk include SwedishAmerican Health System, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, AMCORE, Rockford Health System, WTVO, Rockford Register Star, United Parcel Service and Wesley Willows.
